Our Counselling Services

Strength Zone

for Individuals

If you are finding that you are feeling stuck or unable to have the life you truly desire we can help. We can help you to uncover what is getting in the way of living your optimal life and build new skills to manage.

We work with individuals from a strengths based perspective, helping you to find new ways of discovering your best self.

Strength Zone

for Relationships

We have been there through the ups and downs of navigating the complexities of marriage, raising children and step children and working through the more challenging and rewarding times!

We can help couples to re-discover the intimacy that can go missing at certain times, and to re-connect despite the issues that have created conflict.

If your relationship is struggling, I can help you both to view it in a different way, and to learn new skills to re-connect and recover the intimacy that can sometimes go missing in all relationships.

All relationships experience conflict from time to time and this may lead to disconnection and distance. Despite these difficulties, it is possible to learn new ways to relate to your partner and to develop a deeper connection.

Couples Intensives

Strength Zone Holistic

What are Intensive Sessions?

We offer couples a longer session where we can explore your relationship in depth. Intensives can help to support your relationship if regular once a week counselling isn’t enough or you find it difficult to commit to weekly or biweekly sessions. Intensives allow you to focus on your relationship in a concentrated format.

Couples intensives can be a stand alone experience or as a part of your ongoing therapy.

We work one on one with you over 1, 2 or 3 days.

Richard and Jane act as co-therapists for all intensive therapy sessions. This means you will have access to two therapists for the duration of the intensive session.

Who should attend an intensive?

Intensive sessions can be beneficial for any couple at any stage of their relationship.

  • New relationships wanting to have tools to  build a solid foundation
  • Engaged couples wanting to create a relationship vision
  • Couples who want to address areas of conflict that keep showing up
  • Couples wanting to reconnect
  • Couples experiencing a crisis in their relationship

When would an intensive not be appropriate?

Not all relationships are suitable for an intensive format. If there is domestic violence, significant mental health issues or ongoing infidelity, intensives would not be appropriate.

Before an intensive takes place we have an intake session of 60 minutes to explore your goals and suitability for an intensive session. We will work together to outline a plan for the intensive session.

Where do intensives take place?

There are several options for where intensives can take place. Many couples choose to experience intensive sessions in person. We offer our office space in Uxbridge, Ontario.

We also offer online intensives for those who can’t be in person.

Frequently Asked Questions

Strength Zone Holistic

Why should I see a therapist?

Clients come to us for all sorts of reasons. It could be your struggling with a particular issue such as anxiety or depression. Or a problem that you feel stuck with and can’t find a way forward. We have worked with a variety of clients experiencing issues that become barriers in life to moving towards the life you want to live.

We always suggest a free 15 min consult call to discuss your needs and how we can support.

How long will therapy take?

That depends on your issue or concern. Sometimes individuals may need to come in more frequently ie) weekly and others less so.

With couples, we tend to suggest at least several months of therapy to build and learn new ways of connection and understanding.

We will always discuss with you at our initial session what your goals are and base our sessions around what works for you!

What does a counselling session look like?

We offer individuals a 50 minute session and couples a 90 minute counselling session.

In our initial session, we will discuss what brought you to therapy, what is worked in the past and what hasn’t. We will get a history from you around the issue, as well and a holistic understanding of your background.

We will always give you the opportunity to ask questions and tell us what is most important to you around your goals.

From there, we will work with you around a plan moving forward, always guided by your unique needs and individual strengths.

How do you work with couples?

We have both completed training in Imago therapy and work with couples through this lens.

Often in our relationships we experience conflict. Not feeling heard, understood or appreciated. We move from a romantic phase, where our partners meet all of our needs to a stage of conflict and disconnection. We often relate to each other when we are experiencing struggles through adaptive behaviors that we learned or experienced in childhood. Meaning, we do what we have learned and we do it unconsciously.

We are here to help you understand the struggles that ALL couples experience and bring those ways of reacting and responding to our partners into a more conscious place.

Conflict in relationship is normal and it is connection and growth trying to happen!!!!

We work with couples in their identified areas of disconnect and help them to learn to communication and truly understand each other. We do this through a specific focus and teaching couples how to dialogue with one another that brings about increased connection, understanding and intentionality.

Can I bill insurance?

We do not bill insurance directly. We always suggest checking with your benefits provider around coverage for therapy. If you have coverage, we will provide you with a receipt to submit to your benefits provider.

How can I contact you?

You can reach out to us through email or our website.

What are your fees?

$175.00: 50-minute individual session
$275.00: 90-minute couples session

Please contact us for further information if you are interested in our couples intensive sessions.
